Gender agreement errors: an experimental study on Russian

So-called agreement attraction errors in various languages (like the key to the cabinets were rusty) have received a considerable attention in the last two decades. Various grammatical and semantic factors aff ecting their frequency were studied experimentally, which sheds light on the workings of the mental grammar. However, almost all studies focused on number agreement. We report an experiment looking at gender agreement in Russian. It allows checking and revising some of the conclusions made in the previous studies.
