The article presents a short survey of principles of rendering preterits in the Gospels into Old Slavic and The Life of St. Andrew the Fool into Old Russian. The article reflects the meaning of imperfect and ingressive actionsart. Old Slavic translations of the Gospel presents mechanical rendering of imperfectum de conatu with Slavic imperfectum, however the Old Slavonc translations of The Life of St. Andrew the Fool have some variations determined by actionsarten.. Development of the German philological vocabulary in works by the Enlightener J. Chr. Adelung (1732–1806)

For the German Enlightenment period in the second half of the 18th century, the concept Sprache (Language) is one of the most enduring constants. Th e works by G. W. Leibniz on the idealized language, Chr. von Wolff on the innovative language for the science, J. Chr. Adelung on the anthropological nature of language form the basis for the vocabulary of the humanities. Adelung wrote more than 40 major works on lexicology, grammar, spelling, comparative linguistics, textbooks for schools.

Perfect and Pluperfect tenses in Old Russian translation of “The Life of St Andrew the Fool”

The author presents a short survey of functioning of complex preterits in Old Russian translation of The Life of St. Andrew the Fool comparing with the Greek original. The article refl ects similarities and differences in the semantics of perfect and pluperfect and their opposition to each other.
